The glorious pastel whimsy of the Carousel Curve
Description
This scarf began with a skein of Yarn Bee “Fur the Love — Carousel” thrifted from Value Village but quickly turned into a full-blown creative adventure. After experimenting with multiple needle sizes and row lengths—and frogging more than a few attempts—I realized the only tools up to the challenge weren’t in my knitting arsenal at all.
They were destined for my recycling bin.
Enter: gift-wrap-tube knitting needles.
Yes, actual cardboard gift-wrap tubes, fashioned into points and surprisingly perfect for coaxing this fluffy yarn into a coherent fabric.
Once the needle situation was solved, the scarf grew steadily during my Christmas visit—keeping me company through Scrabble games, ferry rides over the Salish Sea, family chatter, and the usual swirl of holiday background noise. Worked over the course of more than seven hours, the scarf naturally forms a soft, whimsical spiral when it hangs, giving it movement and personality without adding bulk.
Soft, cheerful, and delightfully dramatic, Carousel Curve can be wrapped once for texture, twice for warmth, or simply draped to let its natural curve do the talking. This scarf doesn’t just accessorize—it performs.
